WHO ARE WE

In the fall of 1975, the Charlotte Allen Cobras began their first season of football and cheer. The organization was developed in an effort to get youth in the North Houston area physically active. Later, the Houston independent School District did not want the Cobras to use the districts name, thus the Studewood Cobras were born.

Brothers, Walter and James Penrice, formed a team that won several consecutive super bowls in the Texas Coastal Little League Association. The Cobras have received significant amount of support from many supporters over the years.

In the past forty years the Studewood Cobras Youth Football and Cheer have helped over 8,500 youth become not only physically active through youth football and cheer but, also active participants in their communities. Many times former football and cheer participants return as coaches, volunteers and parents of participants. The Studewood Cobras are a non-profit organization that promotes the importance of sports and physical activities through youth football and cheer.

The Studewood Cobras are committed to the continuance of improvement in our community and to the realization of the importance of being active youth community members. Because of our commitments to North Houston communities, we have received several acknowledgments for our efforts. We have been awarded the Aramark Achievement Award for our commitment to community service. We have also been featured in the Kings Eye View local newspaper for many years.

With 20 football championships and 30 cheer competition titles to date, our youth not only excel to their greatest potential during childhood and adolescent years but, many go on to participate in middle schools, high schools, universities and pro activities. For us that's our greatest accomplishment. Our leader, Walter Penrice, is selfless and passionate about the kids in the community. Therefore, we could not ask for a better person to do the outstanding job he has done for more than 45 years.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to promote the physical, mental and emotional development of youth through participation in sports and activities. Our programs encourage and promote healthy and strong kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition, community service and the value of participation rather than winning. With emphasis on academic success and positive self-image, our youth learn the value of fair play and mutual respect for others.
