The Hawks opened their season with a 22-5 victory over Foothills Rangers RFC at Berry Lane Park today. Flyhalf Josh Banaag opened the scoring. The conversion failed. Center Ibrahima Toure busted up the middle for a 20 yard try. Andres Gomes converted for a 12-0 lead. The half ended with wing Tsulu Scrivens picking up an ill-advised Rangers cross field kick and racing 40 yards for a score in the corner. The conversion failed and the half ended with a 17-0 Hawk lead. The second half saw liberal subbing by both sides that ended with prop Miguel Trinidad scoring with at the 59th minute. The conversion failed. The Rangers got on the board with a hard worked try in the right corner at the 69th minute. Sophomore center, Curtis Raeford, also played well for the Hawks.
