The game of Fastpitch Softball has impacted Francesca Casalino’s life now for over 18 years. Whether in between the lines playing or in the dugout coaching, softball will forever be apart of whom she is. Francesca was lucky enough to have played for Yale University, Half Hollow Hills High School West, Team Long Island and Team Nitro Long Island, and she now is lucky enough to be coaching back where it all began with Team Nitro Long Island.

During her four years at Yale University, Francesca was able to achieve success both on the mound and at the plate. Some of her awards include being named Academic All-Ivy in 2018, Second Team All-Ivy in 2017, and NFCA Scholar Athlete in 2017 and 2018. By the end of her career, she was 2nd in Yale Softball History for Career Strikeouts. Off the field, Francesca was involved with Team Impact, which allowed Hailey and Edwards to become honorary members of the Yale Softball Team, was a member of the Kiputh Leadership Academy, and was a student aide in the Timothy Dwight Head of College Office.

Following her graduation from Yale, Francesca was fortunate enough to play softball in Aruba for USA Athletes International. While down there, she competed in a series of games against the Aruban National Team, as they prepared for the Caribbean and Central American Games, and participated in several camps mentoring young Aruban softball payers.

During her time at Half Hollow Hills High School West, Francesca also had a wonderful career. In 2014, she lead Half Hollow Hills West to their first ever County Championship. Personally, she was also awarded numerous accolades, highlighted by being named an NFCA All-American, 1st Team All-New York State, Suffolk County Player of the Year, a News12 Scholar Athlete, and a finalist for the Dellacave Award.

Academically, Francesca is excited to start her journey through Law School in the fall of 2020.

Fastpitch Softball has shaped Francesca’s life in some incredible ways, and she is now eager to give back to the game that has given her so much. As the current Assistant and Pitching Coach for Team Nitro Long Island 18u Gold, she is ready to take on the fun ahead and do it next to her dad, Coach Caz, and sister, Gabrielle Casalino.
