| What a beast of a tournament, 133 teams entered..................32 man brackets and any last year wild card make up the field where the matches sometimes start double overtime from the 1st round: It's the toughest and most exciting and the most tourturous tournamet to watch i've ever been to..............
Joe Foster (Curley) one of the 4 or 5 best kids i've ever coached who has placed at HS states 3 Straight years with 4,3,3 finishes along with his junior league career for sure is one PH's best ever and is a certain Hall of Famer finally made it to DAY 2 of preps where he made it to final 12..........which is incredible....
Keep in mind if any of these boys I'm mentioning would've took the easy route and stayed at PH maybe they'd have bigger trohpies but wouldn't be the wrestlers they are...............Joey, you are really one of the best, and your accomplishments on the mat have proven it....being in those tough weight classes all those years while maybe sometimes was tough it mad you alot better........ great career (JOE DID YOU GET TO 100 HS WINS?) I never followed curley that close but you should be right there?
Bill Gialamas took his second straight All-American finish and registered his 100th HS School win..............He's the only kid i've coached that's done all of the following: 3X MJWL Champion /Jr. Lg. State Champ / HS State Champ / 2X National Prep All-American / 200 Jr. League Wins / 100 HS Wins another definite hall of famer.
Nik Gialams finished his career maybe not as great as I'd liked but he has been consistantly the most accomplished wrestler time and time again this season was filled with ups and downs and at that weight class what a tall order to fill, But Nik managed his best State tournament finish (2nd) and his placing after finishing 3rd and 3rd.... He's the first ever Calvert Hall Wrestler to finish top 4 all four seasons and ended up with 133 HS Wins which is the second most in Calvert Hall History and if the team wouldn't have jockeyed through 3 coaches in 4 years Nik at least I believe would've done much more........just like all these boys did when I coached them!
Brian Mayhew went 1-2 and despite taking a few years off of wrestling made a respectable showing.......Brian wrestled 1 year for us and did pretty good after spending many years with golden ring before the folded.........
Patrick Downey, WOW what a tough, tough kid I can't remember the last time a freshman made the Semi-Finals, however he ran into a senior buzzsaw and ended up 6th but still that's awesome...........He could end up a 4X Place Winner.....And has an awesome shot but this tournament knows NO FAVORITES OR CARES WHAT YOU DID THE YEAR BEFORE! What a grind,
122 schools..........wrestling OT right out of the block................... 9 MD STATE CHAMPS DID NOT PLACE! HOW TOUGH IS THAT????????????
