| In ASA softball, merely leaving the bat over the plate would not be considered a strike. The batter must "offer" at the pitch. The batter is not required to pull the bat back. ...when I am PU,I look for twitches or other movemaent of the bat towards the ball to determine whether the batter offered at the pitch or not.
