| Runner on first, less than two outs. Fly ball to right field. Runner leaves early, ball is caught and thrown out of play trying to retire runner returning to first base. Runner retouches first. What base or bases is runner awarded?

| On the previous overthrow play at first base. What is the ruling if the runner did not return to first on to tag up on the catch.

| Jim B. - If runner did not tag up on overthrow after the catch, it is an appeal play before the next pitch. If appealed correctly runner would be called out.
