| Debbie, let's break this down first off the Illegal pitch is a delayed deadball. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, each would receive 1 base award for the illegal pitch. Which would mean the runner on 3rd base would be awarded home and the runner on 2nd base would be awarded 3rd base. Now as the batter was hit by the pitch legal or illegal they would be awarded 1st base. Hank and I discussed this over the weekend and this was the conclussion we reached. Hope this helps!

| Doesn't the batter have the option of taking the base or having the pitch just be a ball?

| illegal pitch called and delayed dead ball on pitch. Once the ball hits the batter it then becomes a dead ball. Effect- all runners on base advance one base on illegal pitch. Batter/runner entitled to one first base without liability to be put out. Rule 8-F.( Exception is that no attempt was made to avoid being hit ,the batter will not be awarded first base.) The runners on base however would still advance one bae on illegal pitch.
