AWARDS: Medals for 1st – 3rd.. Wrestlers will wrestle back to true 2nd, 1st and 2nd automatic advancement to State Championship Tournament.
ENTRY FEE: $25.00 – Entries must be received by Wednesday, February 1st, 2012. Absolutely No Phone Entries or Walk-ins.

Region III is comprised of Baltimore County, Baltimore City and Howard County. Wrestlers must reside in these counties to be eligible to participate in Region III Championship Tournament. If a wrestler is found in violation of this mandate, wrestler will be immediately and automatically disqualified, and additional sanctions may be imposed. All Eastern Shore residents may qualify through Regions III, IV, V.
The 2012 MDWAY/NUWAY REGION III WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP tournament is on Sunday, February 5th, 2012 at Perry Hall High School. Top two finishers in all weights and age groups will advance to the MDWAY State Championship Tournament on Sunday, February 26th, at University of Maryland Baltimore County, 1000 Hill Top circle, Baltimore, MD 21250. Regional tournaments will wrestle back to a true 2nd.
1. Advancement fee is free for 1st and 2nd Place Finishers and a valid NUWAY Wrestling Card is required $15.00. 3rd & 4th Place Finishers may also advance for a fee of $25.00, plus NUWAY Wrestling Card $15.00.
2. An advancement registration fee will be collected on February 5th before the wrestler departs from the regional tournament. If advancement is not desired, next placement will be offered advancement (3rd place then 4th place).
3. A wrestler's age group classification is determined by his/her age on December 31. EXAMPLE: A wrestler’s 11th birthday is 1/1/2011. That wrestler competes in the 10 and under division.
4. Folk style wrestling, NFHS rules will govern all matches, except as modified by MDWAY.
5. All bouts 1-1-1 except 11&12, and 13&14 will wrestle 1 ½ -1 ½, 1 ½, double elimination, overtime 1 -: 30 if needed.
6. Headgear is Optional, but suggested. Singlet is required.
7. Participants must weigh in at the weight class they have entered. There will be no shifting of weights or substitutions at weigh-in time. Entrants not making weight will be scratched. Weigh-in will be required only once for each tournament.
8. A wrestler cannot wrestle outside his/her age group, and may enter in one weight class only.
9. Weight classes with less than 3 wrestlers may be combined at the discretion of the Tournament Director award and advancement will be given based on entry division and weight.
10. Matches against team members will be avoided in the first round if possible.
11. The maximum class in each division will include all wrestlers in the age group whose weight is more than the preceding weight class.
12. Copy of birth certificate will be required of all Region finalists at the Regional Tournament, and for all wrestlers competing in the State Championship Tournament.
13. The source of rules governing this tournament will be the NFHS Rule Book and the Region Rules that apply to the operation of the qualifying tournament.
14. Only fulltime residents of Maryland may enter the MDWAY State Kids Wrestling Championship series tournaments.
15. The hair rule for the MDWAY Wrestling tournaments will be enforced as defined in the NFHS Rules Book.
16. The 6 & Under division has open advancement to the State Championships.
17. Counties eligible in Region II: Montgomery, Frederick, & Carroll. Eastern Shore may qualify thru Region III, IV or V.
18. Regional Director’s decision is final.
