| The legal substitute for the FLEX, could continue in the 4TH SLOT to bat and play defense for the DP (nine players), or, the leagal substitute could go to the 10TH SLOT (FLEX POSITION), and play with 10 players, with the DP returning to the 4TH Slot. Your other option would be hold the substitute, have the starting DP return to the 4TH SLOT and bat and play defense (nine players), until you, the coach deside to play with a FLEX (10th Slot), again, or not.

| Remember that the DP/Flex must be declared when the line-up cards are handed in and become official. It can not be added later in the game. If you are playing with the DP/Flex, the coach may go down to 9 or back up to 10 as many times as wanted during the game. The only determining factor is that the coach must abide by the legal substitute rules.
