| An age 12 batter has two strikes. The next pitch hits the ground and bounces up. The batter swings and misses, and the catcher cleanly catches the ball. The batter-runner runs to first base while the catcher holds the ball, without making a throw. Is the runner safe?

| Dropped third strike, catcher did not catch the pitch directly to the glove or hand. Runner Safe if two outs or no one on first base with less than two outs. In fast pitch you can also hit a pitched ball that bounces up.If ball had hit the batter after the swing, the ball is dead and the batter is out.
