| For the next batter, the pitched ball crosses the strike zone, hits the batter's hands that are on the bat, and bounces foul. The batter did not swing at the pitch. The umpire calls "foul ball". Shouldn't the batter be awarded first base?

| i agree with allen. batter did not swing and the ball did not hit the bat so there is not a foul ball. since it hit the batter it's an immediate dead ball and since it's in the strike zone it is a strike. if she had 2 strikes on her she is out

| I must agree with The Nov again. Hands are not part of the bat, and any part of the body in the strike zone that is hit, is a dead ball strike.

| It's a stike and the ball is dead. Rule 8.1.F. The strike overrides being hit by the pitch.
