| With bases loaded two outs and a 3-0 count on B-4,F-1 throws a wild pitch for ball four and and R-3 advances but misses the plate. Before R-3 enters dead-ball territory,R-3,s teammates tell R-3 to go back and touch the plate. F-2 tags R-3 out before R-3 touches the plate. Whats the call?

| runner is safe. only due to the particular circumstances of this play. since the pitch is ball 4, all 3 runners and the batter runner can advance without liability to be put out. since R3 did not enter the dugout area [dead ball territory] she can go back and touch the plate. catcher tagging her has no bearing on this play. had it been a hit or a walk with the bases not loaded or a passed ball where the runner tried to score then she would be out - live ball appeal. had she left the playing area then an appeal would have gotten an out for the defense b/c she is not allowed to return & touch the plate

| ASA 8-3B EFFECT - R3 is out.Once R3 passes but misses the plate and the ballis live, R3 is subject to being retired on an appleal play for missing home. F2 does not need to make a play for missing home. F2 does not need to make an annoucement of an intent to appeal because tagging R3 is an unmistakable action that shows F2 knew R3 missed the plate and was appealing the missed base.
