Tie game, top of the 8th inning. B5 is due up, so B4 will be the tie-breaker runner at second base. B4 happens to be the catcher. Can the offense have a courtesy runner run for the tie-breaker runner (the catcher)?

As long as you have somebody on the bench who has not yet entered the game, or has also not been a courtesy runner for the pitching position, you should be able to have a courtesy runner in this situation for the catcher. Otherwise, no bench players left, then no courtesy runner.

I agree with Ron, as long as the catcher was the catcher of record. Meaning on the away team she caught the bottom of te 7th, or on the home team ended the top of the 8th catching.

Ron C. & Opa Ump are both correct. As long as you have a bench player who has not yet played, and has not been a courtesy runner for the pitcher, and the player that they are running for is the "current" catcher (not about to become the catcher in the next inning), there is absolutely nothing preventing a coach with replacing the tie-breaker runner in this situation with a courtesy runner.
