| If a batter is slap hitting (on the left side) has 2 strikes and hits the next one foul, it's a foul ball. At least I think it is based on an umps calls in a tournament. If a batter is slap bunting with 2 strikes, though, and the ball goes foul is it a foul ball or an out? And what is the determining factor on whether it's a slap or not? Is it all about the foot movement?

| Slap hitting can be from either side of the plate. Only a drag bunt is from the left side, and it is called a bunt because the bat is not swung. In a slap hit, the bat is swung making it a hit. It is usually started as a fake bunt and then the bat is brought back and a small swing is made just to get the ball over the infielders head. It is a swung at hit not a bunt. If the left handed batter is moving toward the ball and holds the bat still or a slight movement but not breaking through with the wrists, that would be a bunt. A drag bunt foul on the 3rd strike would be an out. A swung at ball hit and gone foul on the 3rd strike is just a foul ball.

| Overall, Opa Ump is correct. Simply put, a slap is certaining not a bunt in anyway. It's a swing!
