| ball gets loose from the pitcher's hand and rolls to the plate. Batter swings at the ball as it rolls (not bounces) across the plate. Catcher catches the ball. Do it call it a strike?

| RULE 7, SECTION 4D. Any legal pitch swung at and missed is a strike. Also read RULE 7, 5E. It's a strike.

| Perry is correct. Any LEGAL pitch swung out is a strike. Whether it bounces, rolls, or flies, it's a strike.

| alex, everyone's reply is correct. would like to clarify one point on your question though you say the catcher caught the ball. she did not catch it, she stopped it. ball was on the ground so if it was the 3rd strike you'd have the dropped 3rd strike rules in effect
