| Here’s a new twist on an old question. Yes, let’s go back to the video. Whether you ruled interference or no interference or remained indifferent, here’s the twist. What if the throw from the catcher hit the retired runner and went out of play? WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO PUT THE RUNNER FROM FIRST? Interesting huh? Does it change your outlook? Let the new “discussion” begin.

| Yes. If no interference ruled was live ball. If thrown ball went out of play the runner is entitled by book rule two bases from the release and would be instructed to third base by umpire.

| My original opionion (which has not changed) is that there was no interference on the part of the batter / baserunner. Therefore, I would award the runner on first base two (2) bases based on her position at the time of release by the catcher e.g., runner on first base is awarded third base (Rule 8.5.G)

| I watched the video again. Even if you say that there is no interference, that's a tough call (award). We're going to give two (2) bases to the runner from first, as a result of the ball hitting a retired runner and going out of play? I know that it is probably the correct call, but it just doesn't seen right somehow.
