Junior league question.. Hi there. If the batter tips the ball & it lands in the catchers glove is it an out? I say yes. Some say only if she has 2 strikes on her. Others say the foul tip had to be higher then the batters head. Who's right? Thanks Kelly

A foul tip is a pitched ball that moves directly from the bat into the catchers glove and is secured by the catcher. It is only an out if the batter has 2 strikes on her. There is no rule that it has to be "over the batters head".

A foul tip is defined as a batted ball that goes sharply and directly to the catchers golve of hand and is caught by the catcher. This is a live ball and a strike. If it is strike three, the batter is out.

A foul ball is a batted ball that goes off the bat and has any appreciable arc. It can be caught for an out, no matter how many strikes the batter has on him/her. There is no minimum height requirement for a foul ball

I think the better word would be if any "perceptible" arc is recognized or observed. Then indeed it is a foul ball, and the batter would be out regardless of strike count.
