| One of our leagues evidently has written somewhere that there is only a 20 minute wait on Thunder & Lightning. IT'S ALWAYS 30 MINUTES. Safety rules such as this cannot be altered by local league bylaws. PLEASE SEE OUR TRAINING PAGE. Mr. Neal Wallen has put together an outstanding power point presentation on THUNDER & LIGHTNING. Educate yourself, and be safe out there!

| Why would anybody in their right mind want to take a chance like that? "Live to play another day.!" 30 minutes 30 "thunder and lightning free," minutes.

| Question may be pretty much like splitting hairs but it did come up. I was part of a two man crew and we had bad weather as soon as I heard thunder I indicated that we needed to wait 30 minutes. The other umpire and the commissioner of the league both told me that I was wrong and that it is 30 minutes from lightening. It ended up that we had lightening shortly thereafter so we had no problem. However I read the rule in the ASA handbook and it said that indeed you can stop play based on your judgement, but technically it says lightening. This is crazy that you would wait for lightening, interested in others interpretation of this

| allan, you were correct. what causes thunder? only one thing on this earth lightning!! just because you cannot see it - due to mountains, trees, buildings, UFOs, whatever!! - doesn't mean it does not exist. see lightning, hear thunder, it's the same - stop the game and wait 30 minutes, resetting the clock with every new occurance.
