Runners on second and third with one out.
Batter up has 3-2 count. Next pitch is strike three, but catcher does not catch the pitch, making it a dropped third strike. Batter/runner correctly starts to run to open base. Umpire forgetting first base is open calls batter runner out. Runner stops when umpire calls her out. Offensive coach tells umpire of his mistake on rule. Umpire apologizes, but out stands. Umpire has made the wrong rule application.
Was the umpire wrong on sticking with the out on the batter/runner?

The plate umpire may correct any situation where an Umpires decision or delayed call puts offense or defense in jeopardy, prior to the next pitch.

OPA - if it is true about i a rule that it can be corrected, how would you correct it.
Put runner on base not knowing if runner would have made first without being put out? Defense coach not buying that. Also offense coach would want his runner from third scored because probably would have if ball thrown to first.
Again, how would you rule/judge what could have happened and would be fair for defense and offense.

PlateUmpire was the ruling official on this call. How can he reverse his call. I think he is going to eat the mistake, tell the coach he was wrong and continue game with runner out just as he called it.

No way to reverse the wrong call/rule on this play of calling runner out on dropped third strike with first base open. Who can say what the result would have been with runners on second and third and one out when call was made.Coach could protest, but again what would the coach want that would be fair to both teams.
" MY BAD" and a apology is what is given. One of those calls that you hope it does not hurt the team that it was ruled on.

Any call that is about a wrong rule application or usage is subject to protest, and is a reversible call, if not by the Umpire than by the UIC or another faction. ASA Rule 10 Section 3-c gives the plate umpire the power to change the call. Do not confuse a judgement call in the field with a wrong application or interpretation of a rule.
