I had a 10U travel game last night. First inning there was a low pop up down first base line. The batter took off for first (Has no clue where ball was) and the pitcher cuts across and clips the back foot of the runner as she tries to catch the ball in foul territory Pitcher didn't catch ball and ball drops foul.
The Defensive coach wanted Interference I didn't call it. It was a bang bang kind of a play.
Is that interference?

The pitcher has the right to make a play a batted ball. The defensive player also has a step and a reach if the ball is misplayed. If the pitcher had a chance of making a play on the ball it is Interference, which is an immediate dead ball. If it was a thrown ball, obstruction would be called, which is a delayed dead ball.
