| This happened last night and I want to make sure that I got it right in rec league 14u. Bases loaded pop fly to the second basemen, I called infield fly, second basemen drops the ball, no one on the field understood the rule. Runners all start running three runs score with only one out. Explain to the teams that runners did not have to tag up and could run at there own risk. Here is my question, do the runners have to be tagged or could it be a force play with the runners running, neither happened so I was ok. I just was thinking about it and I am not quite sure. Your feedback would be helpful.

| The batter/runner is out on the infield fly, there can be no force when there is no batter/runner.

| On an infield fly, runners can run at their own risk. If the ball is caught they must tag, but if it is dropped they do not have to tag. The Batter is always out on an infield fly which means there is no force. Also remember that it is not a force if the runner is thrown out on the way back to tag up.

| Once infield fly was called, the batter is out, therefore there is no force out. Runners can advance at their own risk, and only have to tag up if the ball is caught.
