| When obstruction occurs, give the delayed dead ball signal and announce obstruction loud enough for the players in the immediate area to hear. If the obstructed runner is put out between the 2 bases where obstructed the ball is dead immediately and the obstructed runner and all runners affected by the obstruction are awarded the base or bases they would have reached absent the obstruction.

| If the obstructed runner is tagged out prior to reaching the base just call a dead ball and then announce the base award. Awarded bases must still be legally touched. If the runner has not yet touched the base, announce the award and watch to see if the runner does in fact touch the base as they may be subject to appeal by the defense for missing the base.
