| runners on first and second one out, ground ball to second fielder throws to first two outs, runner on thirds crosses plate an runner from second goes to third. Defense walks off field an runner on third goes in to dugout. First base coach goes to umpire an says ther is only 2 outs. Umpire informs both teams to come back on field for third out. Correct or incorrect?

| Both teams are responsible for knowing the situation and number of outs. When the runner on 3rd left the field of play and entered the dugout they are out, so now it is 3 outs.

| Not only both teams, but the Umpire must know the outs. The runner is out when the runner abandons a base and enters the team area or leaves live ball territory. Umpire should call dead ball, call the runner out, and if not the third out return runners to last legal base touched at the time of the infraction. ASA rule 8-7-U. There should be no reason for a coach to have to tell the Umpire the number of outs.
