| No runners on, no outs. 3-0 count on the batter. Pitcher delivers the pitch, but the ball bumps her leg during the delivery and rolls on the ground. Batter drops her bat onto home plate and runs to first base, and just as she's a third of the way up the line, the ball strikes the stationary bat and rolls fair. Call?

| With all the argument on the FB thread, I would wait for national to issue an official ruling. Plenty of high ranking ASA officials appear to be at odds over what the ruling should be.

| My take Definition of Batted Ball (Rule 1) Any pitched ball that hits the bat or is hit by the bat and lands either in fair territory or foul territory.
Now if you look at the requirements of a batter. Rule 7 Section 6 D. When an entire foot is touching the ground completely outside the lines of the batter's box at the time the ball makes contact with the bat. The batter is out. So you have a batted ball, Batter is out. ball is dead and runners must return to the base occupied at the time of the pitch.
