| No outs, Runner is coming towards home plate with no play on her. Catcher standing on plate, Umpire signals obstruction. Runner steps next to the plate, but not on it. Defense appeals. What have you?

| Runner would be out. Runner had plenty of time to "slip the toe" in somewhere, or to physically "move" the catcher off of home plate. The runner has the right to "move" the catcher as long as she doesn't use great force.

| Obstruction by catcher. This would not allow the runner to be put out at the plate if a play was made on said runner. As soon as runner passed the plate obstruction was off. So runner missed plate and on appeal would be called out for missing plate.
