| FOR DISCUSSION: ASA RULE 8.7.T.3.b. A batter-runner who rounds first base toward second base may stop once, but then must immediately nonstop return to first base or attempt to advance nonstop to second base.
So, if the runner immediately advanced to 2nd base after stopping between 1st and 2nd they have fulfilled there responsibility at that point. They then went beyond second base (not stopping on bag) are tey entitled to stop once and find the ball and then again immediately advance to 3rd or return to 2nd.
Would you call out a BR who, on a walk, rounds 1st, stops and then immediately advances to and rounds 2nd, stops and then immediately returns to 2nd? The rule specifically says stop one time and advance to 2nd or return to 1st. they did exactly that. The second stop was after 2nd base. OPINIONS

| The runner can come to a complete stop every time they round a "new" base. And as long as they continue on or retreat immediately after the stop at first, or at second, or at third, they should not be called out.

| Perry is correct. Only odd ball that may come up is this. If batter runner were to stop on first base with look back rule in effect and then steps off - runner is out. Different when rounding base and then stopping.
