| Very surprised to see the chin strap requirement removed from girls fast pitch. I thought that safety was the first aim of A.S.A. Does anybody think that this will have an impact on the game?

| Not to worry. In travel softball, virtually every girl has her own fitted helmet. I don't see any major problems. The face mask balances the weight a bit, so I doubt that you'll see helmets coming off at bat, or running the bases.

| I really don't think that safety will be an issue. For a coach, it's one less thing on the long "to do" list (always having extras available). If the helmet fits well, you don't need chin straps.

| I've always thought that chin straps should be optional. I think that it's a good move. Coaches can still require it for certain individuals on their teams if they feel it necessary.
