| TWO PLAYS ON UMPIRE INTERFERENCE:
(a) R1 on 1B. Batter lays down a bunt in front of the plate. F2 fields the ball and is just about throw when the PU knocks the ball out of the catcher's hand while extending his left hand to signal fair. All runners arrive safely. Is this umpire INT? (b) R1 on 1B. On the next pitch R1 gets a great jump and attempts to steal 2B. F2 draws back to throw and contacts PU which knocks the ball out of her hand. R1 arrives safely at 2B. Is this umpire INT?

| In B, definitely return the runner to first. in A, I'm going to guess that the ball remains live.

| RULING: In (a) it is not INT. Live ball and play on. In (b) if R1 arrives safely kill the play and return her to 1st. If she's put out the out would stand.

| In A, the umpire had NO business even being in the way at all. There are many ways that he/she could have indicated fair without being part of the play.
