| R1 is on first base, with one out. Batter B1 hits a high line drive down the left field line. While the plate umpire is signaling fair ball, the pitcher calls out "foul ball, foul ball." R1 keeps running, but B1 after rounding first base and heading toward second, because she heard the words "foul ball," stops and retreats toward first base.
Finally, the first base coach convinces the runner that the ball was fair, but it's too late as the ball has returned to the infield. So on the play, R1 scores, and B1 gets a single.
The pitcher had been warned previously for hollering out "foul ball." but on the prior occasion, it had no impact on the play.
What is your ruling, if any?

| Disqualify the pitcher. Award the batter second base. "Verbal Obstruction."

| If the runner from first (R1) scored, then why not award the batter third? Both should have been able to make the three (3) bases if the verbal obstruction didn't happen. Just my opinion.

| Difficult to say, about the awarding of three bases to each runner. Nothing states that obstructed runners need to be awarded the same number of bases. Would have to have been there to judge the speed and determination of the runners. But in this instance, it's absolutely, verbal interference and the pitcher should be ejected.

| Team warning which would include the pitcher for first violation of confusing verbalization by defensive team. As this was the second time, award bases you judge the offense would have gotten and eject the team member in violation which was the pitcher. Confirmed this ruling with my State ASA UIC.

| And I would still award the batter, third base.
