| Two outs, two strikes on the batter, first and second occupied. Batter swings, catcher drops the ball, batter/runner runs to first. The catcher instead of throwing to first throws to third. What's the call? By the way, in my 40 years of officiating I've never seen this happen before. The game was a high school varsity softball.

| If she had enough time to get the out, I say a smart catcher. The trow to third was probably a unobstructed throw. There is always a chance of a poor throw when a runner is trying to get to first on a dropped third. I would like to know if she did record the out.

| If they tagged her before she got to third, she's out.

| Tag of the runner or simply touch the base, it is a force out at 3rd.
