| With R1 on 3B and R2 on 2B, B3 hits a sharp grounder back to F1 who knocks it down and it rolls toward the foul line. F1 picks the ball up and throws to 1B and the ball rolls into dead ball territory. B3 had already passed 1B when the ball left F1’s hand. Neither R1 nor R2 had advanced a base.

| Ball is dead . Since b3 occupied 1st base at the time of the throw she gets 3rd base. Both r1 and r2 score.

| Henry is correct, when the ball left the hand the batter/runner was past first base. so they get third base. Now does the ruling change if the batter/runner was almost at 3rd base when the ball the finally goes out of play? (pitcher picks up ball, throws it over first baseman's head and the ball rolls down right in foul territory and then finally goes into dead ball area.

| Pretty basic. B3 awarded second and third. R1 & R2 are awarded home. Always two bases on and overthrow from the last base touched at the time of the release.

| Neal, since no one else answered you, I will. The ruling does not change. Award is based on where runner(s) were at the time of release
