| A pinch runner goes in for the DP. Once that half inning is over, the original DP re-enters the game. A couple innings later, the pinch runner re-enters the game taking the second baseman's position. Is this legal? I was under the assumption that the pinch runner would have to re-enter as the DP?

| Once a player has been used in the game, that is the only spot in the lineup they may ever occupy and, a player and their sub can never be in the game at the same time.
The only way I could possibly see the situation you describe as being legal would be if the sub did go back in for the DP and the DP just happened to be playing defense for 2nd base. Otherwise, it would not be legal for the sub that entered for the DP to also sub for the 2nd baseman.

| As long as the new DP has eligibility remaining, they can play defense from the DP position. The Flex then can be removed, and play with nine, or remain playing with 10, with one (1) of the batters just batting.
