Corey Rodgers & Bowser Hammer Their Way To Victory
By Josh Yohe, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Bowser`s vow to take the regular season seriously appears legitimate. The six-time defending champions, who historically view the regular season with limited interest, dominated an opponent for a second straight time in a 13-4 victory over Clancy`s. Newcomer Kevin Smith pitched well for the Twins Monday, earning the victory after firing three plus effective innings. Smith is a native of Alabama and pitched at Georgia Tech. He is one of many free agents who appears to have found a home with the Twins. "He was very solid," Bowser manager Andy Brettschneider said. "Honestly, it was just a strong performance from everyone involved."
The big story of the evening was the return of legendary catcher Corey Rodgers to the Bowser lineup. Rodgers retired following the 2009 season after taking a postion as a police officer. He decided to make a comeback now that his work assingments have left him woth more free time in the evenings. He went 2 for 2 with a single and a double. "He looked excellent," Brettschneider said. "It was very nice to see him back." Jim Onder enjoyed a productive evening for the Twins, notching two hits, including a three-run homer.
Jack Shaffer added two hits for Bowser. "Just a good game by everyone involved," Brettschneider said.
Scott Seabol, the former big-leaguer who now plays for Clancy`s, went 1 for 3 with a single and a walk.
