Rugby Camp Info from Coach Laflamme at Brown University

Rugby Camps

There are couple of camps I am involved with that I'd also like to share with your programs.  The links are below.

Brown University Summer Rugby Camp (co-ed)- dates are August 3rd to the 5th

US Collegiate Development Camp (Boys) - dates are June 24th to 27th and June 28th to July 1st (two sessions)

West Point Rugby Camp (boys) - dates are July 26th to 29th

There is one camp that is coming in July of 2019 that will take place in Dublin Ireland.  Terenure College, located in a suburb of south Dublin, is offering rugby players an opportunity to improve their skills and techniques at their summer intensive Rugby Academy.  This two-week program with focus primarily on rugby however the difference about this academy is that participants will also spend time learning about Irish Culture and History.

Terenure College, founded in 1860, has a rich history immersed in Leinster Schools Rugby having won the Leinster Schools Senior Cup 10 times.  Past pupils of the school include Irish Internationals Girvan Dempsey, Mike Hipwell, Niall Hogan and Conor O’Shea (also the current coach of Italy).  Tim Schmidt, son of current Ireland coach Joe Schmidt, also attended Terenure College.  The College boast 10 Rugby Pitches including a 4G All Weather Pitch, Flood-lit All Weather Training Area, Indoor Facility, Swimming Pool, Gymnasium and full Weights and Fitness Room.  The Australia National Team used these facilities to train during their fall 2016 Internationals.

The majority of the time will be spent on developing the rugby side of the academy players.  The immersion part will take the players off campus and teach them about Ireland and it’s history.  They will learn about Irelands long tradition of story telling as Irish history, myths and tales have been passed down from generation to generation.  Academy players will hear about notable literary figures such as Maria Edgeworth (Castle Rackrent 1800), Bram Stoker (Dracula 1897) and James Joyce (Ulysses 1920).  To add to their experience, academy players will stay directly with host families who have a close connection to Terenure College.  These are families who understand the needs of academy players who both play rugby and are involved in an educational environment.

If a player is interested, they should email me directly.  I am creating an interest list to send additional information as the program gets developed.  The cost of this two week experience is anticipated to be about $1,900.  This will include everything once the academy player hits the ground in Ireland.  Not included is airfare however I can assist in coordinating this through my contacts here in the US.

This camp is for boys ages 10-18 (at the moment).  I am flying over to Ireland next week to work out the details of next year's camp.  I have already heard from a number of athletes.  I do have a list of interested females and will be happy to share their desire for this opportunity as well.

I am happy to answer any specific questions about the academy.
