Sunday saw the Eagles travel to Whitby for a game vs the Canadiens. The Eagles offence got off to a fantastic start as Kris Boyd belted a 3 run homerun in the top of the first. The Eagles built up a 7-1 lead for started Shane Cowan who took a one hitter into the 6th before the wheels fell off and Whitby battled back to take a 1 run lead. The Eagles did not die however as they came back to tie the game at 8 in the top of the ninth and then took a 10-8 lead in the 10th. The Eagles brought in Nick Stacey for the save but a lead off walk, 2 seeing eye singles and line drive over center fielder Chris Starks head gave Whitby the win 11-10.
The Eagles travel to Port Hope this Wednesday night for a game vs the Flyers. Game time is 7:30pm. Troy Foster is the scheduled starter for the Eagles.

July 18 – The Eagles were on the road in Port Hope. Shane Cowan took the mound and went 7 strong innings for the win. The Eagles won the game by a 9-2 score.
July 19 – The Eagles were home to the Whitby Canadiens. The Eagles scored 1 run in the bottom of the first on 3 singles however that would be all the offence the Eagles would provide for veteran right hander Jason Carrol who took the loss tossing 7 innings. Whitby cruised to an 8-1 victory.
Jul 21 – The Eagles were at home for a double header vs the Kendal Royals. Game 1 saw Nick Stacey take the hill tossing 5 scoreless innings for the win. Steve Foster threw the final 2 innings as the Eagles took game 1 by a score of 7-1. Game 2 saw Glenn Wagg (recently activated from retirement) make his 2007 Eagles debut. The tricky lefty did not disappoint as he cruised through 4 innings only giving up 1 hit. With the Eagles up 4-0 heading into the 5th inning, rookie Derek Langstaff also made his 2007 debut on the bump. Derek threw well however the Eagles defense made 4 errors allowing the Royals to pull within 1 run. Kyle Vowles relieved Langstaff however the Royals plated another run tying the game at 4’s. With the game tied in the last inning Chris Stark and Bryan Landry hit singles and stood on first and second with two out. First baseman Mark Foster then delivered a single to left scoring Landry from second and after a throwing error at third Stark also crossed the plate giving the Eagles a 6-4 lead that they would not surrender.
July-22 – The Eagles were at home vs Port Hope with a chance to sweep the season 4 game series vs the Flyers. This game saw a classic pitching match-up as Veteran Troy Foster took the mound for the birds and Orono native (ex-Eagle) Mike Landers got the nod for the visiting Flyers. The Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead however Landers would then shut the door through the next 6 innings. With the score tied at 2 the Eagles loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with BJ Hackett coming to the plate. Hackett launched a hanging Landers curve over the left field fence for a grand slam giving the Eagles the 6-2 lead. Kendal would add on 3 more runs in the eighth cruising to a 9-2 victory and closing out a very successful week of baseball.
The Kendal Eagles now sit with a .500 record (10 wins & 10 losses) as they begin to prepare for the final stretch of games before the provincial championships in Mississauga. The Eagles next action finds them on the road Wednesday night in Ajax and are home this Sunday July 29th vs Ajax – game time is 12:00pm.

EAGLES SPLIT WITH PIONEERS

Nick Stacey was on the bump for game 2 of the double dip and threw well however the Eagles defense and bats didn't come to play as Markham cruised to a 9-0 win.
The Eagles will wind out the regular season with 2 games on the road including a game vs the provincial champion Oshawa Royals (August 15th-7:30pm) and a make up game vs Whitby which will take place at the Clarington Fields Friday August 17th at 7:30pm. The Eagles final home game of the season is Sunday August 19th when the Oshawa Royals are in town for a 12:00pm start.
This season the Eagles are headed to the All Ontario Senior Mens “C” tournament is Mississauga on Labour day weekend. The tournament is a 12 team double knockout format which includes teams out of Brampton, Rose City, Welland, Thorald, Tillsonburg, Essex, Mitchell, Kincardine, Barrie, Creemore and league rivals the Port Hope Flyers. The tournament schedule has not been completed however game times and opponents will be posted when available.
