**All Tournaments are optional and not mandatory.  For all 1st year wrestlers we recommend you to try and attend at least one tournament as a spectator, if you are not planning on entering a tournament as a competitor, so you can see how a wrestling tournament is run.**

Times /Locations / Reserve Spot

On almost every weekend during the wrestling season our club will be attending another clubs sponsored tournament.  We will list upcoming tournaments and have them on our website for  everyone as soon as we receive the information.  At this time you will need you to fill out the appropriate paperwork and hand it back in with cash or a check made out to Team No Ego for the amount that is indicated to participate at the sponsored tournament. Please put tournament money in a sealed envelope marked with your childs name and the tournament he/she will be attending.  Also mark the envelope letting us know if its cash orcheck.  Also helpful is if you plan on paying by check you can put the tournament name at the bottom in the Memo area.
It is the responsibility of the wrestler’s parents to transport their child to and from all tournaments.

Tournament Weigh-Ins

All wrestlers will be weighed before all tournaments.  Hair and nails will be inspected and overall health assured.  Nails must be kept trimmed.  Long hair must be put into a net.

No wrestler with a rash or uncovered wound will be allowed to wrestle.  Typical weigh-in times are from 6-8am either on a Sat or Sun morning with wrestling to start roughly by 9am but please always double check times.  Please give yourself enough time to get to weigh-ins.

Tournament Procedures

After arrival at the tournament, you child must  check in and then go to the weigh-in room.  They will then be marked into a bracket for their weight.  Kids are grouped as follows:

8 and under wrestlers are called Bantams, 9-10 year olds are called Intermediates, 11-12 year olds are called Novice and 13-14 year olds are called Seniors.  After the weigh-ins, each wrestler will be bracketed into a group.  The wrestlers will be grouped by age and than by weight.  The age groups will be called into the bullpen to get the kids grouped in their brackets.  Once they are grouped, they will come out to the mat to wrestle.  Depending on the age group, they could be called into the bullpen 2-3 times during the tournament.  Please understand once your child arrives mat side, the coaches will try and wait with them until they wrestle.  Sometimes our coaches do not arrive until they are getting ready to wrestle.  Not match can start without a coach present!!

Depending how your child finishes will depend on if he gets a trophy or medal.  Please ask a coach if you are uncertain.  After his matches are finished and his trophy, if any, is given to him, you are able to go home.  You can always stay and support your fellow Oswego wrestlers too.

***Please have your child shower immediately following every practice and tournament

after being on the wrestling mats***
