ACADEMIC PROGRAM
How are we any different than other Youth Programs you may ask? As mentioned on our website page, we are an education first program. The JR Cougars Youth Football and Cheer Organization places a great emphasis on the academic success of our players and Cheerleaders. Our approach to academics plays a big role in our program. We offer academic rewards for both players and Cheerleaders who excel in the classroom.
Those players or Cheerleaders who are TYKES and above who receive “Straight A’s” through the scholastic quarter in which they play football or cheer for us, will receive an Academic Trophy with their name engraved on it. We like to present this trophy to them at their school, in their classroom, with both parents and classmates in attendance. This is only possibly though if the school allows us too.
Since we have so many kids coming from different school districts, and with different grading requirements, we require that BOTH Core Subjects as well as Electives, must be 90's - 100, ALL A's, M's, E's, or combo of any of the three. If your athlete is in an Honor's or Advanced Class, the grading system still applies and MUST BE one of the above.
If there is 1 89, 1 OT, 1 S, or even a S+ on their report card, i.e. Handwriting, Art, Music, participates in discussions, follows directions, etc. your child DID NOT MEET the organization's criteria and will not receive an Academic Trophy. Every class discussion, following directions etc. is considered and part of being an excellent student and they should always strife to be the best student that they can be.
A = 90-100
B = 80-89
E = 86-100 (Considered an A)
S = 70-85 (Considered an B)
M= 90 - 100
OT= 80-89
