Dave Waldron, Lyon Mountain Miners

Waldron hit and pitched the Miners to the CVBL championship. Waldron hurled a complete-game shutout to go along with two hits in game two and delivered a key three-run homer in game three.


2004
Matt Duquette, Plattsburgh Cardinals

Duquette drilled two solo homers, including a walk-off game-winner in the bottom of the 8th, as the Cardinals swept the CR Tunes Mudhens in the championship. Duquette was the winning pitcher in relief of game one. In the semifinals against Altona, Duquette drilled four hits, including two doubles as the Cards rebounded from a game one defeat.


2003
Jamie Labarge, Altona Hornets

Labarge smacked a game-winning three-run homer in Game 2 of the finals as the Hornets rebounded from a Game 1 loss to capture the CVBL championship. Labarge had a pair of doubles in the opening-game loss, two hits and four RBI in game two and a run-scoring single in the deciding game. Labarge also had three-hits in a semifinal win over Hi-Falls/All-Star Sports.


2002
Nick Dubray, Lyon Mountain Miners

Dubray drilled seven hits in three games as the Miners downed the Altona Hornets in the finals. In the deciding game, Dubray ripped three hits, including two triples (one with the bases loaded) and drove in four runs. In game one and game two, Dubray had a pair of hits, including a double, in each game. In the semifinals versus the CR Tunes Mudhens, Dubrary had two hits, including a grand slam, and drove in five runs in the deciding game.


2001
Dennis Labarge, Altona Hornets

Labarge pitched and hit the Altona Hornets to the championship. In the finals against the CR Tunes Mudhens, he hurled a complete-game victory in game one. In game two, Labarge drilled a pair of homers, including a grand slam. Labarge recorded two wins and ripped four hits in a three-game win over the Lyon Mountain Miners. In the opening-round, Labarge threw a complete-game shutout and had two hits against the Ft. Covington Lynx.


2000
Mike Bordeau, CR Tunes Mudhens

Bordeau hit four homers in the playoffs, including one in each game of the finals against the Lyon Mountain Miners, as the CR Tunes captured their first-ever title.


1999
Nick Chase, Lyon Mountain Miners

Chase led the Miners to their first CVBL crown in 24 years with a 6-0 pitching record in the playoffs. Chase also became the first player in CVBL history to earn the Most Valuable Player and Pitcher of the Playoffs in the same season. Chase pitched 45 innings of a possible 47 for the Miners in the playoffs. He recorded two wins, homered and drove in three runs, against the Clinton Lakers (first round), Plattsburgh Cardinals (semifinals) and CR Tunes Mudhens (championship). Against the Mudhens, Chase allowed 13 hits and struck out 15 in 16 innings.


1998
Stephen Peryea, Altona Hornets

Peryea led the Hornets to a perfect playoff run (5-0) after a perfect regular season (18-0). Peryea had five hits in the finals against the Clinton Lakers, including a pair of homers and a pair of doubles. Peryea had four hits, including a homer, in game two of the semifinals against the CR Tunes Mudhens. In the first round, Peryea ripped three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs against the Hi-Falls Grizzlies.


1997
Steve Criss, Plattsburgh Cardinals

Criss drilled three homers to lead the Cardinals to a championship series sweep of the Altona Hornets. Criss also ripped a three-run homer in the semifinals against the Adirondack Spirits and a homer in the first round against Schroon Lake/Crown Point.


1996
Jamie LaBarge, Altona Hornets

LaBarge had five hits, including three homers, and drove in seven runs as the Hornets capped their return to the CVBL with a sweep of the Plattsburgh Cardinals. LaBarge ripped two homers and drove in four runs in game one, and went 3-3 with a double, homer and three RBI in game two. In the semifinals against Midas, LaBarge homered twice and doubled as the Hornets staved off elimination twice.


1995
Toby Bouyea, Clinton Lakers & David Davidson, Midas Mudhens

Bouyea was instrumental in setting the table as the Lakers downed the Mudhens to claim their first title. In the finals Bouyea had four hits, including a double to lead the Lakers. Davidson pitched the Mudhens into the final by defeating the three-time defending champion Plattsburgh Cardinals twice in the semifinals.


1994
Steve Criss, Plattsburgh Cardinals

Criss hit .461 with four home runs and 11 RBI as the Cardinals became the first CVBL team to ever win three consecutive playoff championships. In the finals against Midas, Criss drilled three homers and drove in nine runs.


1993
Roy Ebersole & Scott McCormick, Plattsburgh Cardinals

Ebersole and McCormick keyed the Cardinals offensive attack as it powered its way to 54 runs in four playoff games. Ebersole hit four homers and had 10 hits in four games, while McCormick had nine hits, including a doubel and three homers. In the series clincher against Midas, Ebersole had four hits, including a homer, scored three runs and drove in two runs. McCormick contributed three hits, including a homer, scored three times and drove in two runs.


1992
Steve Criss, Plattsburgh Cardinals

Criss homered in three playoff games as the Cardinals. Criss homered twice in a 3-3 performance in the semifinals against AuSable Forks in game one and followed that with a two-hit performance, including a homer, in game two. In the finals against Midas, Criss homered in game one and drilled a double in game two.

Jamie Labarge, Altona Hornets

Leading the Altona Hornets by example, LaBarge was the guts behind the Altona Hornets first-ever CVBL title.

Don Duprey, Peru/Al's Patchwork

Duprey captured his third Playoff Most Valuable Player award as Peru/Al's Patchwork completed a perfect season (13-0 regular, 5-0 playoffs). Duprey had seven hits and five RBI in a semifinal sweep of Saranac Lake, and drilled home run in the finals against the Redford River Rats.


1988
Bill LeBeau, Plattsburgh Cardinals

LeBeau was the team leader as the Cardinals captured their first CVBL pennant. LeBeau drilled a three-run homer in an opening-round win over Midas and had a three-hit game in the finals against the Altona Hornets.

Brian Cross, AuSable Forks Spirits

Cross was a tight defensive force at shortstop for the Spirits. Cross also had three hits, including a triple, and an RBI in the championship win over the Plattsburgh Cardinals.


1985
Don Duprey, Peru Well Drillers

Duprey collected seven hits, including two doubles and two triples in winning the award for the second time in three seasons. Duprey had six hits in the two-game sweep of the Mudhens in the finals.

Don Duprey, Peru/Ormsby's Well Drillers

Duprey, the hard-nosed catcher and captain, collected 11 hits in four games. Duprey had six hits in two games against AuSable Forks in the finals and five hits and two RBI in two games against Lyon Mountain in the semifinals.


1982
Gary Barber, Peru/Ormsby's Well Drillers

Barber put together two solid series against the Lyon Mountain Miners and AuSable Forks Spirits as Peru registered the first perfect season in league history. In the finals against the Spirits, Barber had eight RBI in two games, including a pair of homers and a bases-clearing double. In the semifinals, Barber drilled a two-run homer in the opening game and a three-run homer in game two.


1981
Steve Stanley, AuSable Forks Spirits

Shaking off a sub-par regular season, Stanley collected 11 hits in 17 at bats during the playoffs. Stanley went 6-11 with two homers in the semifinals versus Club 86 of Saranac Lake and 5-6 with three doubles and two RBI as the Spirits swept the Lyon Mountain Miners in the championship.


1980
Gary Barber, Peru

Barber keyed a game-one victory over the Lyon Mountain Miners with a big three-run homer in a two-hit, five RBI performance. Barber added a pair of hits, including a double in a semifinal sweep of Saranac Lake.


1979
Jack Leggett, Burlington Expos

Leggett had five hits, including a home run and two doubles, in the Expos two-game sweep of AuSable Forks. Leggett also stole four bases, scored five runs and knocked in five runs in addition to triggering four double plays at shortstop.


1978
Brian Casey, Burlington Expos

Casey's timely hitting and defensive play at the hot corner were prime factors in the Expos post-season run. Casey signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers following the championship game.

Tom Hackett, AuSable Forks Spirits

Hackett registered a 3-2 mark on the mound, striking out 36 in 40 innings of work.


1976
John Zerrahn, Peru

Zerrahn recorded a 4-1 record with a 2.27 earned-run average in the playoffs. In 44 innings he struck out 31 batters. He also batted an even .300.


1975
Glenn Petrashune, Lyon Mountain Miners

Petrashune was a one-man wrecking crew as he pitched and hit the Miners to the championship. Against Peru in the final, he won two games, had four hits, including one game-winning homer. In the semifinals, he was 3-4 with five RBI in a win over the Lyon Mountain Lions.


1974
Gary Giroux, Peru

Giroux clubbed three home runs and drove in 10 runs as Peru swept past Ellenburg and Dannemora to win the playoffs.


1973
Barry Dimick, Ellenburg Eagles

Dimick collected 13 hits in 20 at bats and drove in 14 runs in five games as the Eagles captured the championship. Dimick staged his own personal fireworks show with a six-hit, 10 RBI doubleheader as the Eagles swept Peru in the semifinals. Dimick had two doubles and a homer that day. Dimick continued his hot hitting with seven hits and four RBI as the Eagles downed the Lyon Mountain Miners in three games to win the crown.
