2018 FALL ALL STAR RECAP
After taking a year off the Connecticut High School Fall All Star squad was back on the field in 2018 to play a single doubleheader against the Community College of Rhode Island. Members of the squad were: Michael Aceto (Hamden), Eli Battipagia (Cheshire), Ian Battipaglia (Cheshire), Justin Butterworth (Woodland), Matt Costello (Cheshire), Matt Downing (Cheshire), Jack Drewry (Wolcott), Gianni Fanelli (Berlin), Mike Marella (Masuk), Jeff Nicol (Wolcott), Mike Sobolewski (Newington), Ryan Strollo (Cheshire), and Paul Villecco (Cheshire).
The all stars lost both ends of the doubleheader against a strong Rhode Island squad with Matt Downing, Mike Marella, Justin Butterworth, and Gianni Fanelli working on the mound for the Connecticut squad.
Matt Costello had 4 hits and two runs batted in to lead the offense, with Ian Battipaglia, and Paul Villeco adding 3 hits each. Justin Butterworth rounded out the offense for the all stars with 2 hits and a run batted in.
Coaching the squad for the 2018 fall season were Ed DiPersio, Doug Wedge, and Kevin Strollo.

2016 FALL ALL STAR RECAP
The Connecticut High School Fall All Star squad took the field for the 2016 season, marking the 22 year that the team has been run. The coaching staff for the squad were Ed DiPersio, Doug Wedge, and Steve McLoughlin.
Members of the squad and the high schools they attend for this year are: Kyle Brennan (Sheehan), Noah Budzik (Cromwell), Dylan Champagne (Newtown), Gary Costello (Cheshire), Ben DeLaubell (Cheshire), Teddy Hague (Amity Regional), Mike Hickey (Cheshire), Trey McLoughlin (Shelton), John Mikosz (Southington), Jeff Nicol (Wolcott), Fran Phelan (Holy Cross), Tyler Popp (Haddam Killingworth), Jack Rich (Wilcox Tech), Ben Schena (Cheshire), Peyton Stephens (Sacred Heart), Roland Thivierge (Portland), Cooper Thompson (Morgan High), Joevanni Torres (Naugatuck), David Wells (Shelton), and Patrick Winkel (Amity Regional).
In the first doubleheader of the year the all stars won both ends of a doubleheader against the Connecticut American Legion All Stars. The squad showed strong defense and pitching in the contests.
Fran Phalen and Peyton Stephens picked up the mound victories for the all stars. Also throwing well were, Teddy Hague, Dylan Champange, Gary Costello, Roland Thivierge, and Ben DeLaubell. At the plate David Wells had five hits over the contests. Patrick Winkel and Peyton Stephens had four hits each, and Jack Rich chipped in with three. Ben DeLaubell had four runs batted in, while David Wells, Jack Rich, Gary Costello, Jeff Nicol, and Noah Budzik each drove in two runs. Though out the two games the infield defense of Patrick Winkel, Roland Thivierge, Noah Budzik, Ben Schena, Ben DeLaubell, and David Wells was air tight.
In their second outing of the year the Connecticut squad traveled to American International College for a doubleheader against the Yellow Jackets. The all stars came away with a split, dropping the first game 5-1, and winning the second game by a 9-7 tally.
Roland Thivierge, Fran Phalen, and Dylan Champange pitched well in the opener, while Pat Winkel collected four hits and scored the only run of the game for the all stars. The bats came alive in the eighth inning for the all stars in the second game, as they pushed across six runs. Pat Winkel, Jack Rich, and Kyle Brennan each had doubles in the outburst. David Wells scored three times and Pat Winkel drove in four runs in a 9-7 comeback win. John Mikosz picked up the win on the mound in the second game. Peyton Stephens and Kyle Brennan exceled on defense at centerfield and first base respectively.
The all star team ran into a very strong Avery Point team playing four games in Groton in their final weekend of the fall season. The bats went dry against a strong group of Pointer pitchers as the all stars dropped the first game 5-0 and finished in a 2-2 tie in the second game. The final two games were dropped by scores of 3-0 and 10-1.
Dylan Champange threw five very strong innings giving up one run in the 2-2 tie game. Fran Phalen and Gary Costello also were strong on the mound for the all stars giving up one run each in their outings. Peyton Stephens finished with six hits in the four games against Avery Point. John Mikosz chipped in with three more. Ben Schena and Noah Budzik played very well in the middle infield on defense.
The all stars finished the fall season with a record of 3 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie.

2015 FALL ALL STAR RECAP
The Connecticut High School Fall All Stars played two doubleheaders during the month of September, marking the 21st. year that they have fielded a squad.
Coaching the fall squad this season were: Ed DiPersio, Doug Wedge and Steve McLoughlin.
Members of the 2015 squad were: Kyle Brennan (Sheehan), Mike Charest (Maloney), Ben DeLaubell (Cheshire), Altrin Kabashi (Cheshire), Trey McLoughlin (Shelton), Elias Oliphant (Amity), Jeremy Sagun (Montville), Peyton Stephens (Sacred Heart of Waterbury), Joevonni Torres (Naugatuck), Madden Ward (Morgan), Chris Winkel (Amity), Patrick Winkel (Amity), and Owen Wosleger (East Hampton).
On the first weekend the all stars swept CCRI in a doubleheader with scores of 6-1 and 6-2. Chris Winkel, Owen Wosleger, Jeremy Sagun, and Madden Ward each had two hits to lead the offense in the first game, with Mike Charest coming away with the mound win by a 6-1 count. Owen Wosleger scored twice, while Madden Ward and Chris Winkel drove in two runs each.
In the second game, Altrin Kabashi drove in three runs to lead the all stars to a come from behind win by a 6-2 score. Trey McLoughlin pitched the first four innings to pick up the mound victory, while Peyton Stephens threw three solid innings in relief to pick up the save.
For the doubleheader, Altrin Kabashi, Madden Ward, Jeremy Sagun, and Ben DeLaubell were outstanding on infield defense, while Joevonni Torres and Patrick Winkel turned in solid efforts behind the plate.
For the second weekend the Connecticut All Stars traveled to Washington Park in Groton for a doubleheader against UConn Avery Point. The all stars won the first game by a 4-0 score, and finished the final game of the fall with a 1-1 tie.
In the first game Peyton Stephens and Trey McLoughlin combined for the shut out on the mound, with Stephens gaining the mound victory. Chris Winkel and Kyle Brennan carried the offense with three hits, four runs batted in, and a run scored between them. The second game saw outstanding pitching for both squads, with Mike Charest and Elias Oliphant pitching well for the all stars. Patrick Winkel and Ben DeLaubell had back to back doubles in the fourth inning for the only run on the all stars side. Altrin Kabashi and Kyle Brennan each had solid defensive games at second and first base.
The 2015 fall all stars showed very strong pitching over the two weekends this fall. Mike Charest, Elias Oliphant, Trey McLoughlin, and Peyton Stephens limited their opponents to only four runs total in the two doubleheaders this season. They finished the fall season with a record of 3 wins, 0 losses, and 1 tie.

2014 FALL ALL STAR RECAP
The 2014 squad reached a landmark this fall by taking the field for the 20th year. The squad was on the field for three doubleheaders. The season ended with a rain out, and the squad finished the fall with a record of 1 win and 3 losses.
Members of the 2014 squad were: Jamie Butler (Sacred Heart of Waterbury), Michael Chiovitti (Holy Cross of Waterbury), Michael Cowell (Shelton), Justin Gallicchio (Northwest Catholic), Jack Gethings (Williston Northhampton), Zach Hart (Sheehan), Jimmy Magson (Hamden), Cooper Mrowka (Cheshire), Cole Ogorzalek (Portland), Emilio Santiago (St. Paul’s of Bristol), Peyton Stephens (Sacred Heart of Waterbury), Jimmy Titus (East Catholic), Hunter Tralli (Northwest Catholic), Josh Vincent (New London), Alex White (Conard), Chris Winkel (Amity Regional), and Patrick Winkel (Amity Regional).
In their first doubleheader Michael Cowell pitched one of the better games is the programs history, pitching all seven innings in a complete game 3 hit, shut out effort. Alex White and Jimmy Magson each had two hits to lead the offense, but the game was won with solid defense in the infield with Cooper Mrowka, Jimmy Titus, and Jimmy Magson all stepping up of the fall squad. Freshman Patrick Winkel did an excellent job behind the plate, not allowing a ball to get by for the whole seven frames.
On Sunday the fall squad traveled to Rhode Island where they were no match for a vey good hitting CCRI squad. After jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the first game the all star pitchers were unable to stop a hot hitting CCRI and dropped a 10-7 final score. The second game was again on the lopsided end with the final score being 8-1. Chris Winkel had 3 hits for the afternoon, while Cooper Mrowka, Mike Chiovitti, and Jimmy Titus each had 2 hits.
The offense for the squad was provided by Alex White.400, Chris Winkel .333, and Michael Chiovitti who hit .300.

2013 FALL ALL STAR RECAP
The 2013 squad played one of the toughest schedules of all time this fall, and finished up with a record of 4 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie. Over the four weekends the team played top notch defense, and turned in quality games on the pitchers mound.
Members of the 2013 squad were: Jake Amoroso (St. Joseph of Trumbull), Ben Brown (Holy Cross), Michael Chiovitti (Holy Cross), Michael Cowell (Shelton), Buddy Dewaine (Montville), Jack Gethings (Williston Northhampton), Eric Jaillet (Valley Regional), Nick Lamberti (East Haven), Logan Lessard (Cromwell), Taylor Luciani (Northwest Catholic), Jimmy Magson (Hamden), Anthony Maselli (Avon Old Farms), Kevin Radziewicz (Cromwell), Wes Robertson (Cheshire), Dylan Robinson (Northwest Catholic), Emilio Santiago (St. Pauls of Bristol), Dan Schock (Cheshire), Troy Stefanski (Wheeler), Paul Wetmore (Hamden), and Nick Williams (St. Joseph of Trumbull). This was the 19th year that the program was run by general manager Ed DiPersio. Rusty Zorski was the field manager for his 2nd. year. Tony Lavorgna (2nd. year) was the first base coach and team doctor, and Walt Novak (6th. year) was the pitching coach.
Defensively Emilio Santiago and Kevin Radziewicz turned in great efforts behind the plate, handling all the pitchers well and throwing out almost every baserunning that tried to steal on them. On the mound Dan Schock, Buddy Dewaine, Nick Williams, and Taylor Luciani each picked up mound wins. Michael Cowell, Jack Gethings and Jake Amoroso also came up with solid pitching efforts.
Hitting was the weak point for the fall team this year. Dan Schock led the team with a .376 average. Nick Lamberti and Nick Williams each hit .333

2012 FALL ALL STAR RECAP
After a sluggish first week which saw the team drop two games, the Connecticut fall all stars split six games over the final three weeks to finish with a 3-5 record
Members of the 2012 squad were: Matt Batten (St. Joseph of Trumbull) Mike Bonaiuto (Maloney), Sean Brennan (Sheehan), Manny Cruz (Wolcott), Evan DeVico (Sacred Heart), Andrew Hinckley (East Haven), Nick Lamberti (East Haven), Justin Lasko (Bunnell), Ryder Miconi (Choate), Wesley Robertson (Cheshire), Dylan Robinson (Northwest Catholic), Ron Rossomando (Bunnell), Dan Schock (Cheshire), Troy Stefanski (Wheeler), Austin Toback (East Lyme), Joe Zanghi (Foran). General Manager Ed DiPersio ran the program for the 18th. year. Rusty Zoarski (1st. year) served as field manager. Walt Novack (4th. year) was the pitching coach. Tony Lavorgna (1st. year) was the first base coach and team doctor.
The all stars used strong pitching led by Dan Schock, who picked up two mound wins, and Mike Bonaiuto over the final three weekends. Joe Zanghi also had a mound win.
For most of the fall schedule the infield defense was top notch led by, Manny Cruz, Matt Batten, Ryder Miconi and Wesley Robertson.
At the plate Andrew Hinckley posted a .455 batting average, followed by Dan Schock .400, Austin Toback .375, Justin Lasko .364, Evan DeVico .351, Matt Batten .308, and Manny Cruz .304. Austin Toback also had 9 runs batted in for the all stars.

2011 FALL ALL STAR RECAP
The 2011 fall all star team posted a very respectable 4 win, 3 loss, and 1 tie record. Very solid defense, and excellent pitching was the trademark of the team.
Brian Murphy won two games on the mound for the all stars, and became the only pitcher in the programs history to pitch on all three weekends without allowing a runs scored. He gave up only 4 hits, and no runs while pitching 12 innings. Matt Blandino and Will Rios also had mound wins for Connecticut, while Cameron Stone and Connor Moriarty also did very well on the mound.
Ryan Thayer led the all stars at the plate with a .375 batting average. Nick Dummar .318, Manny Cruz .308, and Connor Moriarty .300 rounded out the offense.

The 2010 fall all star team coupled a lack of timely hitting, and a few bobbles in the field during the 10 games they played. Their final record was 2 wins and 8 losses.
Members of the 2010 squad were: Kevin Hall (Maloney), Austin Barnes (Berlin), Matt Burns (Xavier), Chris Lee (Southington), Joey Randall (St. Paul's), Buddy Shea (Branford), Ryan Rougeot (Cheshire), Tyler Cyr (Bristol Central), Billy Horobin (Sheehan), Zack Albin (Bethel), Bobby Blaisdell (Bacon Academy), Steve Buckley (Masuk), Brian Fay (Pomperaug), Mark Brennan (Sheehan), Kyle Wilcox (Newtown), Eric Stone (West Haven), Alex Roger (Southington), Eddie Michaud (Foran), Brent Pelella (Pomperaug), Cole Bryant (Newington), Jeffrey Stoddard (Branford), and Nolan Long (Waterford).
Several strong mound efforts by Austin Barnes, Joey Randall, Tyler Cyr, Zack Albin, Cole Bryant, Jeffrey Stoddard, Eric Stone, Kyle Wilcox, and Nolan Long, ended up on the short end with the fall team stranding runners in scoring position in almost every inning.
Bright spots for the offense were Matt Burns .563, Brian Fay .393, Steven Buckley .357, and Buddy Shea at .323. Brian Fay collected 11 hits to finish third all time on the fall all star list with a 22 career hit total. Buckley and Shea each finished with 10 hits for the fall.

The Connecticut High School Fall All Stars finished their season with a very successful record of 5 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie.

The team was lead by a stand out pitching staff of Cole Bryant, Brendon Buckley, Kody Kerski, Craig Lejeune, Greg Porter, Ryan Rougeot, Craig Schlitter, and Brian Ward.
Cole Bryant struck out 11 batters in 5 innings against Avery Point, turning in the top pitching effort. Kody Kerski recorded 2 mound wins, one each against Community College of Rhode Island and Manchester Community College. Brendon Buckley, Craig Lejeune, and Greg Porter each had one mound win.
Terence Farina excelled both on the field at shortstop and at the plate where he put up a .346 batting average. Farina hit a home run against CCRI.

Brian Ward picked up the only mound win of the season for the all stars. Kevin Carlow, Mark Bordonaro, Anthony Marzi, Steve Catalina, and Kevin Jefferis also had quality innings on the mound.
Doug Ferraguto hit .500 to pace the all stars on offense. Kyle Murphy .455, Dustin Miconi .429, Steve Howard .417 and Matt Anthonis .364 also chipped in at the plate.
Mark Bordonaro was chosen in the 2012 major league baseball draft. Joe Michaud, John Murphy, and Colin O'Keefe were chosen in the 2013 major league draft. Anthony Marzi was signed by the Yankees in 2015.

The 2007 fall all star team set the record for most wins ever for the squad, finishing with a record of 8-6. Once again it was solid pitching and defense that carried the Connecticut squad.

Andrew Conlan led the fall team at the plate with a .400 average. Dan DeMeo .364, Steve Howard .333, John sulzicki .313, Taylor Lasko .308 and Jacob Matuszak .304 all batting over .300 to lead the offense. Alex Bulger behind the plate, Sammy Greenberg at shortstop and Jacob Matuszak in centerfield were flawless on defense.

Poor weather and scheduling problems limited the 2002 team to only three games. The squad produced some of the finest players in the state finishing with a 3-0 record.

Brandon Miles, Craig Barush, and Mark Wyner led a top notch pitching staff with one mound win each. Rob Tencza, Eddie Bethke, Bryan Rembisz and George Blystone also excelled on the hill.
With the shortened schedule batting averages were high but none of the players got enough at bats to qualify for the life time stat sheet. Michael Thompson, Brandon Miles, Matt Untiet, Bryan Rembisz Joey Kahlden, and Mark Wyner put up large numbers at the plate.
Tim Binkowski and Bryan Rembisz went on to play professional baseball from the 2002 fall squad.

J. Giampaolo (Torrington), Nathan Ramirez (Trumbull), Jarrett Stawarz (Bristol Central), Joey Serfass (Newington), Ryan Komm (Trumbull), and Jesse Carlson (Berlin).
Nathan Ramirez had the finest pitching effort in fall all star history posting three mound wins while giving up only two runs in four outings. Jarrett Stawarz also picked up two mound wins and Joey Serfass had a complete game mound win in which he struck out 11 and threw only 78 pitches.
Ricky Fritsch led the offense with a .444 average. Nick Hudyma ,393, Ryan Waldron .389, Brian Newbold .371, and Jeff Hourigan .324 rounded out the offense. Paul Cerreta set the single season record for runs batted in with 13.
Ben Crabtree, Jarrett Stawarz, Joey Serfass, and Jesse Carlson from the 1998 squad signed professional contracts. Jesse Carlson pitched in the major leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Greg Metzger batted .429 and Andy Freimuth .300 to lead the offense. Jeff Tarigo and Greg Metzger were both outstanding behind the plate for the Connecticut squad.
Brian Sager, Craig Breslow, Ben Crabtree, and Greg Metzger from the 1997 squad signed professional contracts. Craig Breslow became the first fall all star member to play in the major leagues, and is currently the closer on the Oakland Athletics during the 2010 season.
