How to Become a Player in PVTL

February 5, 2019

Every team in our League is responsible for building their own respective team.  Age is NOT an issue.  Therefore, if you have a desire to play in our League, you should contact each team to see what their needs are and how you can help fill those needs. Submitting a short bio on you would be extremely helpful including contact information of current/previous coaches. Teams will also indicate practices/tryouts dates and locations, if they have any.  If you are a college student away from the area until May, discuss this with the team’s coach and do not be concerned.  All team contact information is listed on our website under Teams/Rosters.  Most teams (not all) charge a fee to play on their team and the fee varies.

It is never too early or late to inquire on playing in our League. Coaches are always building their teams, so reach out to them anytime during the year.  In order to play in our League you will need to sign a player contract (see website) and submit it to your respective team after you decide which team you will be playing on.

All fields are located throughout Montgomery County and five of our thirteen teams have lighted fields for their use.  Those games begin at 7:30pm while the twilight games begin at 6pm.  There are no territorial boundaries so do not feel restricted.  You would need to determine what works best for your summer situation regarding family and work commitments. If your situation warrants playing most of your games on a lighted field, then you may want to communicate only with certain teams.

The schedule & standings on our website for previous season will remain for a while.  You can see how each team finished up last year and when their start times occurred.  Our season begins in mid-May and playoffs will commence the third week of July (weather permitting).  We schedule games during weekdays and will play only on weekends if both coaches agree. Occasionally, weekend games may need to be played before the regular season ends if poor weather has caused limited playing days.

Lastly, as a player there are rights you have to play for any team and you may change teams.  There are also rights for teams to prevent players from moving from team to team. Feel free to contact the League, if your coach/owner does not answer your questions.

Article III par. (2) Once a Player signs a contract, he cannot be signed by any other club unless first mentioned club releases him or his name does not appear on roster. An active signed Player remains the property of a team for one additional year, unless he has appeared in less than 23% team box scores from the prior year.

 Good Luck!
