SAINTS EARN 3RD STRAIGHT ELITE 8 TITLE

ELROSA--The Elrosa Saints hit 3 home runs on Sunday to capture their 3rd straight Elite 8 tournament title with a 11-4 victory over New London-Spicer. Jackson Peter led the way for the navy and orange once again with a 3-for-4 performance including 2 doubles and a home run. Peter connected for 4 doubles, 1 home run, and 6 RBIs for the weekend. As a team, the Elrosa nine hit the cover off the ball with a season high 13 hits. Andrew Weller and Kevin Kuefler also hit home runs for the Saints who advanced to the championship with victories over Veseli and Spring Hill. Saturday night, Ashton Dingmann clutched up with an RBI single to break a scoreless tie in the 6th inning. Ethan Vogt pitched a complete game 4 hitter to hold Veseli in check in the 1-0 victory. Friday night, the Saints came from behind to bounce Spring Hill 4-2 and earn back the coveted Keg trophy. Elrosa battled back from an early deficit and took advantage of RBI doubles from Peter and Derek Wiener. While Elrosa's bats have warmed up with the temperature, the Saints pitching staff contiues to improve as the hurlers only allowed 6 earned runs of the 3 game tourney. The boys will be back in action at Gumby Bauer Field on Friday night when they host SCL South foe Richmond. Saturday afternoon, the Saints will send a contingent of Payton VanBeck, Will VanBeck, Blaine Fischer, Gavin Kampsen, and Kevin Kuefler to the All-Star game in Roscoe. Sunday, the Saints will be back in SCL North action when they host league leading Greenwald.
