ELROSA ENDS SEASON AT REGIONS

August 4, 2024

(Jackson Peter collects 7 hits and 6 RBIs at Regions!)

WATKINS--Elrosa battled all weekend but ultimately missed scoring chances and a number of defensive miscues equaled 2 losses on consecutive days at the Region 15C tourney. Friday night, a back and forth game with Pearl Lake ended in a 10-8 loss. Jackson Peter did all he could offensively to keep the Saints in the game with a memorable 5-for-5 performance including 5 RBIs. The navy and orange took leads on 2 different occasions but the Lakers came storming back to take a commanding 10-4 lead. Elrosa cut into the lead late in the game when Derek Wiener delivered a two run home run which saw the Saints score 4 runs in the inning to shrink the deficit to 2 runs. In the 9th, the Saints put two runners on the base baths but couldn't come up with another hit. Will VanBeck started on the mound before giving way to Ashton Dingmann for 3 innings and Ethan Vogt hurled 4 innings. Sunday, the Saints tallied 11 hits but left just as many runners on base as they fell to Farming 4-2. Payton VanBeck struck out 16 hitters for the 2nd time this season and only allowed 1 earned run in a great performance. VanBeck kept the Flames in check by allowing 3 hits in a complete game effort. Peter drove in another run with 2 more hits but the big hit continued to elude the Saints hitters. Gavin Kampsen smashed 3 hits for Elrosa who ended their season with a 14-9 record which included a SCL North Playoff Championship, Elite 8 Championship, and the Keg traveling trophy. Thank you to fans and volunteers who helped make another memorable summer in Elrosa!
