Athletes/Parents:
As you decide to play AAU basketball please remember to honor you commitment to the program. Show up to practice, coaches need you there, if you can not attend contact the coach prior to the scheduled practice, call, e-mail or text. Be on time to tournament games if the coaches want you there by 1:30 arrive by 1:30 be on time and be prompt, again if an emergency comes up and you can not attend call or contact the coach early, so they can find a replacement player. Please remember you want to be treated with dignity and in a respectful manner, so does your coach.
Our travel basketball is for boys and girls grades 3-12. There are many organizations that sponsor spring basketball tournaments that we play in, Varsity AC, Ohio Basketball, Pittsburgh Hoop Stars, AAU and a few others. Since AAU was the first to sponsor spring tournaments and we competed in Orlando in the AAU nationals finals winners bracket we have simply refer to our program as an AAU style program, I guess technically it is "spring basketball". Tryouts start in February and all teams are formed by early March, our competitive season is from mid-March till May. Our goal for each team is 5-6 tournaments or more, with practice 2-3 times per week, NO CLUB IN OUR AREA, AKRON AREA OR THE CLEVELAND AREA WILL TOUCH OUR NUMBER OF PRACTICES. In fact most advertise 1 practice per week. This is were our coaches have the opportunity for individual player skill development. Some organizations want to say "we play six tournaments" well a tournament is easy, Saturday/Sunday we make up for that with 3-additional hours of practice each week in a season that lasts 12-weeks that is 30 hours more of practice time, that is what WE sell. The practice time is what makes Trumbull County Basketball Academy/ Ohio Lakers North special.
Good luck and enjoy 2024
