Playoff Previews

1. Teddy Bears completed another strong regular season with a record of 7-1, losing only the first game to Underdogs. Mike Yoo, Bo Noung, and James Yi have been consistent scorers all season, all capable of hitting big shots. Timmy Dam and Thomas Byrd continue to anchor the PG and C positions. Teddy Bears are the defending champs, and will remain so until another team takes it.
2. Planeteers also finished the season 7-1, losing only to Teddy Bears when they had Shun Gokita. This team won in season 5 and are one of the favorites to win it again. They have size with guys like David Noh and Sam Kim, guys who can shoot 3's like Steve Yi and Phong Nguyen, guys who can create like Phil Shin and Andy Ahn. Planeteers play both ends of the floor and know how to move the ball.
3. Push had a winning season of 5-3. They struggle to score at times but manage to finish games strong. Paul Phan and Kevin Nguyen have been consistent, Met Tang can still put up numbers, and James Brown plays the role of defensive stopper. Push's fate in the playoffs may depend on whether or not big man John Barnes shows up. He plays with energy and has the potential to put up 20-20 games.
4. Underdogs had a record of 5-3, losing to Planeteers and Push. Kevin Lee (26.3 PPG) leads the league in scoring, and has proven he can score even if opposing teams focus their defense on him. How far Underdogs go in the playoffs may depend on how everyone else on the team plays. PG Paul Choi can break down defenses and drop dimes. Late addition Young Min Kim can also fill the stat sheet.
5. Spartans ended the season 4-4. They struggled at the beginning but slowly turned things around after picking up Trent Toriano, someone who can shoot 3's consistenly. Tom Hwang has all the tools to dominate games and become one of the best players. Dylan Lee can also put up double-doubles on a nightly basis. Other players like Kenny Lee and Aaron Park can drive and push this team deep in the playoffs.
6. Sonics finished the season 4-4, struggling againt the top teams in the league. Eric Tran continues to lead the team in scoring. He can shoot the 3, crossover and drive, or pull up for the floater. Chris Lee has emerged as a double-double threat and can score a variety of ways. Marcus Wilson got tremendous hops and can dominate in the open court. Other guys like Tony Ha and Jason Li also chip in with their playmaking and shooting.
1. A-Team is the best team in the Thursday division with a record of 7-1, losing only to the Planeteers. Meng Xiong leads the team in scoring and can shoot 3's with ease. Shawn Souvannary can make plays on offense and defense, Jak Bantaum protects the paint and can block shots, and Deng Vue hustles and plays D like Tony Allen. Other players also contribute to provide a strong bench. A-Team has grit and can grind their way to a championship.
2. Rosco Monsters finished the season 6-2, losing only to A-Team and Planeteers. This team boast one of the biggest starting lineups with Trevor Callender, Saturday Sam, Kevin Duong, and Hanson Wong. Billy Chin lives in the paint, and Khoa Do also knows how to compete and help win games. Rosco Monsters can dominate any 1-on-1 matchup, and with more team execution and strategy they can win a championship.
3. Shohoku ended the season 4-4, losing some games they should have won. Allen Lo (21.7 PPG) leads the Thursday division in scoring. He can shoot 3's and finish in the open court, and is critical to this team's success. Fan Yang can shoot and distribute, while Xiao Wang also chips in and balances the floor. Big man Hui Xia and Sida Zhao provide tremendous size but struggle to find rhythm at times. More bench could help Shohoku in the playoffs.
4. David Woos had a losing record of 3-5, but should not be overlooked in the playoffs. They are composed of veterans who have high basketball IQ's. David Woo can shoot 3's, get to the line, or find other ways to score. Patrick Ko, Sang Yi, and Tommy Yi provide a lot of size, and other players also contribute. If this team can play steady and control tempo, they can advance and surprise in the playoffs.
5. Natural 9s won just enough games at the end to go 3-5 and reach the playoffs. Dang Tran is a constant scoring threat who can drop deep 3's, drive hard to the basket, and create 1-man fastbreaks. Other players like Robert Park, Sean Way, and Sy Kingsada have also been consistent for the team. To go deep in the playoffs the Natural 9s will have to execute better on offense and step up their intensity on defense.
6. Rocketeers went 2-6 and sneaked into the playoffs. Tough losses have discombobulated the team, causing internal strife and players quitting the team. Tan Tran continues to lead them in scoring with his ability to get to the basket and the line. Kevin Kong is a strong rebounder and Jerry Yiu can knock down 3's. Rocketeers play hard and physical, and they play tough defense. If they do that in the playoffs they can stay in games and grind out wins.
