Playoff Projections
Season 9 Playoffs are here! The #1 seed is Chunju (8-0), a stacked team built to win a championship, with top players like David Noh (16.3 PPG), Mike Yoo (22.5 PPG), and Sam Kim. Other players like Kevin Kim and Chris Lee have elevated their game to compliment the team as well. They are confident they can blow teams out with their offense (scoring 100 vs Old Timers in regular season) and dominate with their size. Chunju is destined for a championship, unless another team can figure out some weakness they have yet to show. |
At #2 is Team Tech (6-2), which has gone on a winning streak after losing two early in the season. Shun Gokita (20.2 PPG), Josh Kim (19.6 PPG), and Phil Shin (12.4 PPG) can all carry the offensive load for this team, and other players like Joe Cha and Matt Lee can also step up at any moment. Team Tech looks like a real team and they play team basketball. Most players on this squad lost in the finals last season, so they are hungry to go all the way this time around. |
Teddy Bears (6-2) got the #3 seed, but they are the defending champions. The core remains the same, with Timmy Dam (5.4 APG), Bo Noung (33.2 PPG), James Yi (16.2 PPG), Vechat Nhep (12.6 PPG), Thomas Byrd (12.4 PPG), and Seng Phounsavath. Although short on players during the regular season, they should be good to go in the playoffs. Teddy Bears have created a dynasty in this league, going to the finals almost every season and winning three. Count on them getting there once again. |
Sonics (6-2) is the #4 seed, but could well have been #2 or #3 with the points differential being so close. On paper Sonics look like a mixed bag of nuts, with guys picked up from the streets and from different teams. Make no mistake, they are serious about winning games and being the last team standing. Marcus Wilson (18.6 PPG) has been playing in a zone all season, and other guys like Eric Tran (12.6 PPG), Chris Lee (10.2 PPG), and Dang Tran (5.3 APG) also help carry the team. |
At #5 is Team Kang (5-3), another successful team engineered by Roy Kang (13.7 PPG). Lester DeLeon (19.6 PPG) has emerged as one of the fastest players in the league, swiping balls and exploding in the open court. Harry Sloan (14.0 RPG), James Pock, and Nate Parker provide tremendous size and inside play, while guys like Syracuse Flandez and Koji Tokumaga can shoot 3's. Team Kang struggled at times in the second half of games, but if they pace themselves better they are capable of beating anybody. |
Aesthetics (3-5) is the #6 seed. They struggle against the top teams but have enough talent to beat the weaker teams. Tom Hwang (12.7 PPG) leads the team in most statistical categories, while David Bang and Dylan Lee chip in a few points and rebounds. As a team Aesthetics shoots 44% from the line, which hurts them late in games. Although they show flashes of brilliance, something hasn't click yet for this team. If they develop a game plan they could be dangerous in the playoffs. |
Hamsters (3-5) earned the #7 seed since they lost to Aesthetics in the regular season. Anthony Phosy (16.4 PPG) anchors the paint, but struggled with his shot lately. Kevin Kong continues to be a strong rebounder, and other players like Austin Phommathan and Tim Phangdy also contribute. Hamsters have trouble finding their offensive groove the last couple of games, so to stay competitive in the playoffs they will have to play harder and more aggressive than the other teams. |
The #8 seed is Old Timers (2-6), sneaking in the playoffs past Juju (1-7) and INFI (0-8). Old Timers have experimented with different lineups and players all season, but still struggled to win games. Tony Phan (11.2 PPG) leads the team in scoring, and other players like Ernesto Duterte, Phong Nguyen, and Vu Nguyen have been consistent for the team also. Bobby Ly has a pure stroke but has yet to light it up this season. Old Timers face annihilation by Chunju in the first round, but there's always a chance they can pull an upset. |
