The Powerhouse 16U team traveled to Columbus, OH and went 3-2 at the 60-team Fastpitch Showdowns All-Sanction World Series event on July 22nd. The team outscored its opponents 25 to 10 with wins over the Dublin, OH Storm, the MI Queen of Diamonds and the Michigan Warriors. However, they started slow in the first game loss to the Montgomery, NY Devils (0-2) and then couldn't hold off the South Holland, IL Outlaws (2-5) after a rain delay.

Lauren Janssen batted 5 for 7 (.714) and pitched for one of the wins, and DJ Garceau was 7 for 14 (.500) with 6 RBIs in the tournament.

The Powerhouse 16U team's summer travel season has come to an end after last weekend's great effort and strong showing at the 86-team, ASA-A Northern Nationals in Bowling Green, KY. Even though the team had an overall 2-3 record at Nationals, Powerhouse had the lead or were tied late in each of the three losses. Their final game went into an extra inning before losing 4-3. The three losses were by a combined total of 5 runs.

In the two wins at Nationals, Powerhouse scored 9 runs versus 2 for the opponents. Courtney Dart and DJ Garceau each had three hits and batted .500 in the two wins including a triple by Courtney.

The Powerhouse 16U Girls went undefeated this past weekend at the rain-shortened Wisconsin Grand Slam Tournament in Kenosha. In Friday's pool play, the team defeated the Kenosha Cyclones 6 - 2 and then beat the Wisconsin Twisters 9 - 5. The rain came on Friday night delaying the start on Saturday, so the third pool games were canceled and teams were seated into brackets based on two games. With a 2-0 record, Powerhouse was a #1 seed in the "A" bracket.

In what turned out to be the lone bracket game on Saturday, the Powerhouse team made quick work of a #2 seed, the Waterford Firehawks, with a 8-0 shutout in 5 innings.

The rain again fell on Saturday night, so the tournament officials eventually elected to cancel the balance of the tournament for Sunday. Fortunately, with everyone playing only one bracket game, the tournament winner decision would have to come down to Runs Allowed. Since Powerhouse was the only winning team to throw a shutout, the A bracket tournament champion title was awarded to Powerhouse.

Highlights of the weekend included: HRs by Lindsey Luedke (2) and Morgan Sarter; Triples by Lindsey Luedke(2) and Ali Bauer (2); A single defensive error for the whole tournament; Ali Bauer was 6 for 8 batting with 3 RBIs; Lindsey Luedke was 5 for 8 batting with 5 RBIs; Hannah Long was 4 for 9 batting with 2 RBIs; Lauren Janssen had 2 wins with a 0.78 ERA; Taylor Gutzman had one win and a save with 13 Strikeouts.

Great job again ladies for starting out strong, staying focused and consistent, having fun, and finishing in control and command.

The Powerhouse 16U team claimed a great start to the season by notching their first tournament championship title of the year in winning the Appleton Rocker's 11th Annual Kickoff Classic Tournament.

After playing around and losing the only pool game of the rain shortened tournament, the girls showed a lot of heart to regroup, refocus and run off three straight wins for the title. After losing 4-3 to the Northern Storm in the Saturday pool game, Powerhouse went on to beat the Green & Gold of Oconto Falls 6-0.

On Sunday, the girls stepped it up again powering out 11 hits in blanking the Fox River Rush 5-0. Taylor Gutzman pitched a complete game, giving up only 4 hits and facing only 21 batters across the six innings.

In the championship game, the Powerhouse girls again had 11 hits in a 3-2 win over the Oshkosh Raiders. Lauren Janssen went the distance with a complete 7 inning game, giving up only 7 hits.

Congratulations for a nice weekend of work by the Powerhouse 14U team down in Madison. The team went 7-0 to win the Game Day USA Badger State Games Tournament.

The Powerhouse 16U Brat Fry Fundraiser was held at Olsen's Piggly Wiggly in Howard this past Saturday. Many thanks to everyone who came by and contributed their stomachs and time.

Powerhouse Fastpitch would like to welcome and introduce the newest members of our 16U team. Ali Bauer of Suamico (Bay Port HS) and Nicole Sharon of Cornell, MI (Gladstone HS), have recently been added to the team. They join this year's other two new full-time Powerhouse players, Logan Pockl of Green Bay (N.E.W. Lutheran HS) and Morgan Sarter of Howard (Bay Port HS). These ladies will be important complimentary contributors to the returning core of 8 players from last year's young, but successful team.
