Powerhouse 12u Team - Midwest All-Sanctioned World Series
Our girls earned the right to play in the Midwest All-Sanctioned World Series in Columbus, Ohio for the second year in a row. The first year down in 2011 was for the experience, but this season we made the trip with purpose to make some noise and challenge the best in the Midwest. The team played at it's highest level throughout the entire tournament, posting a 4-2 overall record. Pool play games on Friday resulted in us beating the Indiana Irish (15-3) in the first game, then coming up short against a very experienced Ohio Power (2-6) in the second game. Saturday's pool games resulted in us beating the Michigan Devils (10-4), then defeating the Great Lakes Sharks from Toledo, OH (6-3). Earned our right to play Sunday entering the day with a 3-1 record. Sunday morning started out with us outlasting the Chicago Outburst (8-6), and then finishing Sunday afternoon by coming up short to one of the biggest, most talented teams in the tourney, the Lady Tigers from the Detroit, MI area.
We accomplished our goal and promise to eachother that we made last season on these very same grounds in 2011 - that we would come back here in 2012 after an off-season of hard training and get to Sunday afternoon. Going 4-2 in this tough tournament is testament to our belief that it takes year-round, hard training to accomplish success in this game. We made the journey back home to Wisconsin with pride in what we accomplished here. We will be back again...

Congratulations goes out to our 2012 Powerhouse 12u team for winning the championship in the 16-team field at the Winneconne Softball Tournament June 22nd-24th!! The girls played their hearts out to add to the winning tradition of Powerhouse Fastpitch softball.
And a special congrats to our Sydney LaPoint for being voted the Tournament Most Valuable Player!!
Way to go girls!!!
Results - The team lost the opening pool game to Hortonville 2-4, then collected themselves and never looked back all weekend by outscoring our opponents 47-14 for the tourney. Started the roll by beating Bay de Noc 15-3, then shutout a very good Germantown club 4-0 with shutout pitching by Sydney LaPoint & Alexis Tingley. Earned a #2 seed for Sunday and defeated Winneconne 8-1 in the quarterfinals with great defense and breakout hitting, including a 210' homerun blast over the fence by Emily Higgins. Semifinal game pitted Powerhouse against Hortonville again, but this time our girls didn't forget what happened earlier and opened-up the offense and issued shutdown pitching to win by 10-run rule in the 5th, 10-0. The Championship game was a great one matching our girls up against a very good Beaver Dam club. Our girls jumped out to an early lead, then gave up some runs and battled back to generate a 4-run rally to come from behind in the final inning and prevailed 8-6 for the Championship!
