Coach McKibben played his High School baseball under the direction of OHSAA Hall of Fame Coach Lou Brunswick at Coldwater High School, Coldwater Ohio.  Coach Brunswick notched over700 wins and five state titles in his 35 years of coaching the Coldwater Cavaliers. Also, on the coaching staff were former professonal baseball player and son Mark Brunswick, Gabby Wilker and freshman coach and mentor Bob Miller.  It would be Coach McKibben's freshman coach who would give Coach McKibben his first taste of coaching during the 1996 Coldwater Junior Varsity season.  As an assistant coach, McKibben helped lead the Cavaliers to a 14-2 record.

Coach McKibben would get his first head coaching position that summer coaching a Pony League team.  His first squad posted a record of 8-3.  Coach McKibben would leave the Cavalier coaching staff the following spring and take a position as Head Junior Varsity coach at Fort Recovery High School, Fort Recovery OH.  This would be the schools first JV program in years.  Coach McKibben had the players believing in his system early as his JV squad would defeat the varsity in a scrimmage and finish the season with a 7-4 record.  Following the season, Coach McKibben would accept the reigns as the Fort Recovery Varsity Head Coach the following season.

Coach McKibben inherited a program accustomed to losing.  The Indians had only posted two winning seasons since 1970.  They had also entered the 1998 season riding a 22 game M.A.C. (Midwest Athletic Conference) league losing streak.  Coach McKibben's first squad snapped the losing streak by winning two league games and finishing 6-18, a school record for losses in a season.  However, even as the loses mounted, the lineup of four freshman, two sophomores and three juniors were gaining valuable experience that would spark the program to new heights.

In the off season, Coach McKibben would be reunited with his former High School Coach Lou Brunswick on the staff of the Grand Lake Mariners, a Major League Baseball sponsored NCAA collegiate baseball summer team.  The Head Coach would be former professional baseball player Tom Brunswick and son of Coach Lou Brunswick.

In year two, the 1999 Coach McKibben led squad would rewrite the Fort Recovery record book.  The Indians would go from the most losses in school history one year to a record setting season for wins the next with a 15-9 record.  Along the way, the Indians picked up their first Sectional Title since 1988.  Coach McKibben  was a finalist for the Collegiate Baseball Magazine Easton High School National Coach of the Year for the turnaround of the Fort Recovery program.

The 2000 season would be more of the same for the Indians as the team again would set a new mark for victories in a season finishing with a record of 16-8.  The season also marked the first time the Indians had ever been ranked in the coaches poll.  The Indians were ranked as high as 4th in Division IV, before finishing the season 9th in the state.  The Indians would also claim the schools first ever back to back Sectional Championships.  Following the season, Coach McKibben was named to the Mizuno All-Ohio Baseball Team Coach of the Year for Division IV.

The summer of 2000, Coach McKibben was an assistant coach on the 13U AAU baseball team the South Shore Sea Dogs out of Boston MA.  The Sea Dogs would qualify for the Nationals in Sarasota, FL that summer eventually finishing 9th in the country.  Coach McKibben then jumped back into the head role with a one year stint as the Junior Varsity Head Coach at Millis High School in Millis MA.  The Mohawks only mustered up five wins in the season prior to Coach McKibben's arrival.  However, things changed quickly when the players bought into the program early on resulting in a scrimmage win over the varisty squad.  The victory set the tone for the rest of the season as they completed a successful 14-5 campaign.

Over the course of the summer, Coach McKibben led a high school summer program, the New Bremen Cardinals to their first winning season since 1998.  The ACME team finished the season 9-7 while finishing second in the ACL.

In 2003, Coach McKibben became the Head Coach of Beaufort Academy Eagles, located in Beaufort, SC.  In year one directing the Eagles, his squad rewrote the school record book.  Taking over the program just one year removed from not fielding a team for lack of interest, Coach McKibben led the Eagles to the schools first ever Regional Championship.  The season also marked the beginning of four consecutive trips to the State tournament under Coach McKibben, the schools first ever appearances.  The 2003 season also saw the team set the school record for wins in a season, 17 which was broken a few years later by the 2007 team with 18 victories.  Over his four seasons in Beaufort, his teams compiled a 61-37 record.

Additionally, Coach McKibben was recognized by Major League Baseball hitting instructor Dave Hudgens in 2005 as a certified hitting instructor.

In 2008, Coach McKibben made a return to the Fort Recovery High School dugout.  In his first game back at the helm, the Indians went on the road and notched a win over D-II school in Celina High School.   The win marked just the 6th time the Indians have defeated the Bulldogs against 50 setbacks.  Coach McKibben then led the Indians to a Sectional Championship and District Runner-up finish in 2008.  Coach McKibben was also awarded prior to the season the Ohio High School Baseball Association certificate for winning over 100 varsity high school games.

From 2009-2013, Coach McKibben ran a private baseball academy in Decatur Alabama.

Coach McKibben will once again be at the helm in the spring of 2015, coaching a start up team called Sixers Baseball.  A SWOL 9U team out of Loveland Ohio playing in the Continental division.  Coach McKibben also became a Certified Baseball coach by the Doyle Baseball School in March of 2015.
