2024 DISTRICT 20  10U SOFTBALL RULES
TEAMS WILL BAT THE BENCH WITH FREE SUBSTITUTION
TEAMS WILL PLAY 10 PLAYERS IN THE FIELD IF AVAILABLE
 ( 4 IN OUTFIELD)
TEAMS MAY START A GAME WITH A MINIMUM OF 8 PLAYERS.  ANYTHING LESS THAN 8 IS A FORFEIT. IF A TEAM STARTS WITH 8 AND THEY LOSE ONE TO INJURY OR LEAVING EARLY, IT’S A FORFEIT. 
ALL GAMES ARE 6 INNINGS- 2 HOUR TIME LIMIT (FINISH THE INNING)
PITCHERS MAY PITCH 9 INNINGS PER WEEK. 
 PITCHERS CAN PITCH A MAXIMUM OF 3 INNINGS PER GAME.
PLAYERS MAY STEAL BASES ONCE THE BALL CROSSES HOME PLATE, UNDER THE FOLLOWING CIRCUMSTANCES UNTIL APRIL 28TH:
STEAL 1ST TO 2ND WITH NO ADVANCEMENT ON OVERTHROWS
 
WITH RUNNERS ON 1ST AND 3RD, RUNNER ON 3RD CAN SCORE
IF CATCHERS TRIES TO THROW OUT RUNNER STEALING 2ND
STEAL 2ND TO 3RD WITH NO ADVANCEMENT ON OVERTHROWS 
NO ADVANCEMENT ON PICK OFF PLAYS BY CATCHER
E. NO ADVANCEMENT ON OVERTHROW TO PITCHER FROM CATCHER     
                 F. NO RUNNER CAN STEAL HOME ON A PASS BALL BY THE CATCHER
                 G. STARTING APRIL 28THTH, STEALING OF ANY BASE IS PERMITTED WITH  ADVANCEMENT, INCLUDING STEALING HOME ON A PASS BALL. AFTER APRIL 27THTH, WE GO TO “BOOK” RULES, AS WE GET THE PLAYERS READY FOR THE POST SEASON TOURNAMENT.            
MAXIMUM 5 RUNS PER INNING, ACCEPT LAST INNING. COACHES ARE TO CHECK WITH UMPIRE AFTER EACH INNING AS DARKNESS COMES, TO AGREE ON THE THAT LAST INNING.
IF GAME IS TIED, AND TIME PERMITS, A 7TH INNING IS PLAYED. NO INTERNATIONAL TIE BREAKER. GAMES MAY END IN A TIE. 
 WEEKNIGHT GAMES START AT 5:45
 15 MINUTE GRACE PERIOD BEFORE FORFEITURE IS DECLARED
 NO INFIELD FLY RULE
 IF A PLAYER LEAVES DURING GAME FOR ILLNESS, INJURY OR ANY REASON, THE BATING LINE UP IS CONDENSED. NO AUTOMATIC OUT. PLAYERS ARRIVING LATE ARE PUT AT THE END OF THE LINEUP.
 WINNING TEAM REPORTS SCORE AND PITCHING INNINGS FOR BOTH TEAMS TO JIM KOEHLER WITHIN 24 HOURS OF GAME COMPLETION.

10U has allowed the following rule this season, make sure umps are fully aware come playoffs.

 

A continuation on a walk is allowed from 1st to 2nd on two successful attempts in a given 10U game (6 innings or more).  This is regardless if a girl is on 3rd or not (3rd can score during continuation if done properly). If an attempt is made going to 2nd, and the defense gets you out, you still have two attempts.  If an attempt is made to 2nd and done incorrectly and ump calls base runner out, you still have two attempts. Some examples below to insure clear.

 

 

Example 1:

No one on base, walk, go to 2nd successfully.  Successful attempt to 2nd #1

No one on base, walk, go to 2nd and defense gets you out.  Failed attempt to 2nd, still have one remaining 

No one on base, walk, go to 2nd successfully.  Successful attempt to 2nd #2.  You are done cannot do anymore

 

Example 2:

No one on base, walk, go to 2nd successfully.  Successful attempt to 2nd #1

Girl on 3rd, walk, go to 2nd successfully and run scores.  Successful attempt to 2nd #2.  You are done cannot do anymore.

 

Example 3:

Girl on 3rd, walk, girl going to second is OUT and run scores.  Failed attempt to 2nd, still have 2 remaining.

No one on base, walk, go to 2nd successfully.  Successful attempt to 2nd #1

Girl on 3rd, walk, go to 2nd successfully and runner at home is OUT by defense.  Successful attempt to 2nd #2.  You are done cannot do anymore
