Hitting Training

Every time a player steps into the batter’s box, they need to be prepared for war. Standing 43 feet away is the opposing pitcher who is not planning on playing nice. They want to do everything in their power to get you out, so a hitter needs to be prepared both physically as well as mentally to win the battle.

Even before the hitter steps up to the plate, there is much that they can do to prepare for this moment when ball meets bat. To become a consistent and feared hitter takes proper practice and repetition all under the guide full eye of an expert. Coach Caz has taught many hitters over the years to become that feared hitter that opposing pitchers and coaches dread seeing step up to the plate.

In order to achieve this stature, players need to first adopt the appropriate Hitting Philosophy and Approach that is key to becoming an elite hitter. This includes:

1.     Being Confident in your Abilities & Do Not Fear Failure

2.     Hitting your pitch and not the pitchers pitch

3.     Being ready to Punish any mistake thrown by the Pitcher

4.     Staying aggressive throughout the at bat.

5.     Learning a pitchers patterns or pitch tip offs to sway the odds in your favor

Next up is making sure that a hitter has the proper form and mechanics to be able to hit any pitcher no matter how fast she might throw. Developing a quick, compact and powerful swing is a function of proper mechanics. This is where muscle memory comes into play. Repetition of proper mechanics is key. Coach Caz will challenge the hitters through the use of drills and techniques to develop proper muscle memory.

This will be achieved by breaking down the swing into its finite components then performing drills that will hone in creating an efficient swing with no excess movement. This approach will allow for the hitter to Simplifying the swing. This simplified swing will become ‘quite’, allowing for the hitter to be compact and quick to the ball. Power will be generated via the extension of their arms and use of their core and lower body muscles, allowing for a player to drive the ball into gaps and over fenses. A function all hitters strive to achieve.

And perhaps the biggest benefit in becoming a reliable and consistent hitter will ensure that your name appears in the line up game in and game out.
